Being straight with you: because your notes live on your device, they don't sync across devices on their own — Pro backs them up to a cloud you own. And we don't offer end-to-end encryption yet. If cross-device sync or E2EE is your top priority, an app like Standard Notes may fit better. If you want to speak your notes and own them, that's us.

Your notes, your device
Straight answers about where your notes live and what we can — and can't — see.
Where are my notes stored?
On your device, in your browser — not on our servers. We never store your note content.
Do my notes sync across devices?
No — and that's by design. Your notes live on the device where you wrote them, so they won't automatically appear on another device or browser. To keep a copy elsewhere, export them (any plan) or back them up to your own cloud with Pro.
What happens if I clear my browser or switch devices?
Because your notes live on your device, clearing your browser's data or moving to a new device or browser means they won't be there. Keep a copy safe with export, or with Pro cloud backup to storage you own.
What is Pro cloud backup?
A one-way, on-demand backup of all your notes to your own cloud storage (AWS S3, Cloudflare R2, or Backblaze B2). It's your safety net and your portable copy — not automatic sync, and it goes to storage you control, not ours.
What data does SpokenLeaf store about me?
Your email and sign-in, your plan and billing status, and how many transcription minutes you've used — and never your notes. Your account is your key for sign-in and billing; it doesn't hold your notes.
Do the AI features send my data anywhere?
Only when you choose to use them — and only to reputable, SOC 2-audited processors. Transcription sends your audio to AssemblyAI, which auto-deletes it after about a day and, because we've opted out of their model-training program, never uses it to train their models. Task extraction and insights send your note text to Perplexity's API, which keeps zero data and never trains on it. These features are optional: if you don't use them, that data never leaves your device. One honest caveat — this processing isn't end-to-end encrypted, because the providers need to read your data to do the work, then discard it.
